John Sanders

Technology reporter John Sanders offers helpful technology tips and tricks in WBAL-TV 11's Web Trends Report on 11 News Today and in his Web Trends Blog here on WBALTV.com.

Whether it's the best site for online recipes or the newest way to send baby pictures to far-flung family, you can count on John to keep you in the know. His reports air Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends on 11 News Today.

In addition to reporting on technology, John traveled to Liberia, West Africa in 2006 as executive producer and a reporter for the 11 News documentary "Africa's Maryland." Along with reporter Tim Tooten and photojournalist John Brosnan, John helped tell the story of Maryland County, Liberia, an isolated part of Africa founded in the 1830s by freed slaves from Maryland, USA.

That wasn't John's first time in Africa. In 2002 John made an unconventional career decision to leave his job at WBAL's Cincinnati sister station to travel around the world. He spent about 18 months backpacking across Central and South America, Africa, Europe and driving across the United States. He's still enthusiastic about travel to exotic places, as well as interests such as snow skiing, hiking, running and reading.

John studied broadcast journalism at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communication and previously worked at TV stations in Altoona, Pennsylvania and Raleigh, North Carolina.
