Portions Of Light Rail Reopen For Commuters

POSTED: 5:58 am EDT June 28, 2004

There is good news and bad news for commuters in Baltimore.

The good news is a portion of the light rail from the Camden Station to North Linthicum is reopened. Regular service to Westport, Cherry Hill, Patapsco Avenue, Baltimore Highlands, Nursery Road and North Linthicum resumed Sunday.

The section of track was closed while the Maryland Transit Administration worked on the Light Rail Double Track project. A second track will eliminate delays previously experienced at single-tracked section because of the need to wait for oncoming trains.

However, the rail will remain closed from North Linthicum to the Cromwell station until construction of a second track is finished in October.
