A cup of hot tea can melt away stress and even promote health.
Research shows black tea contains vitamins, green tea may be able to fight cancer, but the rare white tea may be the healthiest of all. Antoinette Saiget is a regular at The Cultured Cup in north Dallas. She started drinking tea as a child in Hong Kong and never stopped.
Antoinette is among many people who believe in the healing power of tea, especially the power of white tea. Store co-owner Kyle Stewart said the health claims are supported by an Oregon scientist who put the tiny leaves to the test.
"He found that the white tea he gave to mice, it prevented formation of cancerous polyps. The other interesting thing about white tea is that it has the highest amount of antioxidants of any tea beverage in the world," said tea expert Kyle Stewart.
Similar testing convinced the skincare company origins to create a new product with white tea. It's called A Perfect World. "We heard about white tea. We put it in our lab, they tested it. They were astonished by the results. The results came back as one of the best antioxidants they had ever tested," said Stewart. White tea is expensive, but for Antoinette, the health benefits are worth the price.
