Infant Car Seats Being Recalled

Devices May Not Restrain Children

WASHINGTON -- Peg Perego is recalling several models of infant car seats because the seats may not properly restrain children, according to a statement from the company.

The Primo Viaggio Infant Car Seats were manufactured between May 20, 2001, and Feb. 15, 2002, and were sold separately with a base, or bundled with a stroller and sold as a travel system.

The production date of the car seat can be found on the date-code label. The date-code label is a white sticker, located on the back of the car seat between the straps.

The models affected are as follows:

  • Primo Viaggio infant car seat
  • Primo Viaggio infant car seat with base
  • Pliko Travel System (stroller bundled as a single product)
  • Primo Viaggio System (stroller bundled as a single product)
  • Atlantico Travel System (stroller bundled as a single product)
  • Atlantico Trek System SNG (stroller bundled as a single product)

The car seats affected by the recall have a snap in the upholstery directly over the locking belt adjustment mechanism. When the upholstery is attached by the snap to the cover of the adjustment mechanism, it may cause tension in the upholstery due to the weight of the child, which may prevent the complete engagement of the adjustment mechanism. As a result, the child may not be properly restrained.

Consumers with affected car seats should contact Peg Perego at (877) 737-3468 or visit Peg Perego's Web site.
