Candidate's Resume Raises Credibility Questions

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. -- A WBAL TV 11 News investigation has uncovered information that raises serious questions about Queen Anne's County Commissioner Ben Cassell's credentials in his bid for re-election.

A 2002 candidate questionnaire discovered by 11 News listed a resume for Cassell that showed he had a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and an associate professor title from the University of Wisconsin.

Both schools have no record of either claim.

11 News reporter John Sherman confronted Cassell about the claims Tuesday.

Cassell became flustered and said, "I don't care to answer this."

When Sherman asked again, he said, "I'm not answering any questions for you."

Later, Cassell admitted he taught at Wisconsin in the school of business but said he never claimed he was an associate professor.

Cassell has been endorsed by Gov. Bob Ehrlich and is considered a favorite to win re-election next week.
