Three New Ways To Get Birth Control

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new birth control option -- a chewable pill called Ovcon.
It's spearmint flavored and available in a 28-day pack.
WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Donna Hamilton said there are a lot of new options for women when it comes to birth control -- including one that could help you shed some weight.
Hamilton said for years birth control pills have been associated with making women gain weight. But now a new pill called Yasmin could cause women to lose a few pounds.
Pharmacist Brooke Fowler says Yasmin has a potassium-sparing diuretic in it and that's what causes women to lose weight.
But no matter what the positive effects, remembering to take a pill everyday is hard for many women. For those women, Ortho Evra is a patch that is applied once a week.
And there is a pill new on the market this month called Seasonale that reduces the number of yearly menstrual periods from 13 to 4.
